Rockies Trade for Drew Stubbs
Published at(DENVER) — The Colorado Rockies sent left-handed reliever Josh Outman to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for outfielder Drew Stubbs on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old Stubbs played in 146 games last season hitting .230 with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.
“He is a very talented player, a guy that’s got a legit power and speed combo,” Rockies skipper Walt Weiss said. “He’s a very good defender with lots of tools that jump out with you, and another factor is he can not only play center field but all three positions.”
Meanwhile the Indians obtain Outman to help fill out a bullpen that has lost Chris Perez, Joe Smith and Matt Albers this offseason.
The 29-year-old Outman has pitched five seasons in the majors. During that time he has compiled a 12-11 record, 4.61 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP.
