Rouhani Claims Second Monkey Successfully Returns from Space

Photo by John Berry/WireImage(TEHRAN, Iran) — Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed Saturday morning that Iran successfully launched another monkey into space.
Rouhani, on Twitter, detailed the mission, saying that the rocket used was Iran’s first use of liquid fuel to launch a rocket into space. He also claimed that it was the second time that Iran had successfully launched a monkey into space.
In January, Iran claimed that they had successfully launched a first monkey into space. Some experts, however, had doubts as to whether the monkey photographed after the mission was the same monkey seen in pictures from before the launch.
Rouhani did not say when the launch took place.
The claim caused concern among the U.S. and its allies that the Iranian space program could be used to develop long range missiles that could be armed with nuclear warheads.
