Snowboarder Killed in Avalanche

JACKSON, WY) – A snowboarder is dead following an avalanche in the backcountry near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Officials say the slide happened on Pucker Face at around 1 p.m. Despite having an avalanche beacon, rescuers were not able to reach the victim in time. Avalanche danger is currently listed as “moderate” for most of western Wyoming. Pucker Face has a reputation for dangerous avalanches, including one that nearly killed four snowboarders in 2012.
