ABC News has confirmed one of the soldiers was American.

The attack happened in Kabul, about half a mile away from Camp Phoenix, where hundreds of coalition soldiers are based.

The suicide car bomber targeted a convoy of international troops as it was driving by. It is not clear if the convoy had just left the camp, or was one of several others that pass through the city everyday.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bombing, which also left several civilians injured and multiple vehicles damaged.
