Unemployment Rate Falls to 7% as 203K Jobs Added in November
Published at | Updated at(WASHINGTON) — U.S. employers added 203,000 jobs to their payrolls in November, exceeding what most economists had anticipated, the Labor Department reported Friday morning.
Most economists had expected to see around 180,000 jobs added last month.
The unemployment rate, meanwhile, fell from 7.3 percent to 7 percent — a five-year low.
In other bits of good news, the Labor Department revised its figures for September and October to show that 8,000 more jobs were added in those months. The labor force participation rate was also stable in November, indicating that people were looking for jobs rather than abandoning the job market.
