(POCATELLO, ID) – Three Democratic state legislators representing Bannock County held a Q&A session with the public Saturday. Reps. Caroline Meline and Elaine Smith teamed up with Sen. Roy Lacey to discuss their goals for this year’s legislative session. All three are advocates of the “Add the Words” campaign, which would add gender identity and sexual orientation to Idaho’s civil rights laws. Smith believes the state needs to provide more funds for education, while Lacey vows to fight against what he considers propaganda from the National Rifle Association with regard to gun rights. The legislature is currently considering a bill that would allow licensed concealed carry permit holders to carry firearms on college campuses.
