Barbara Bush: ‘I Love Bill Clinton’

There’s George W. Bush, of course, and Bill Clinton. Wait, Bill Clinton?
To hear former first lady Barbara Bush talk, her husband and Clinton, the Democrat who defeated him in 1992, are very close. Their friendship was cemented while doing relief work for victims of the 2004 tsunami that killed over 230,000 people in 14 Indian Ocean countries.
Mrs. Bush also told C-SPAN in an interview that aired this week, “I love Bill Clinton. Maybe not his politics, but I love Bill Clinton.”
She also speculated that because Clinton’s birth father wasn’t around, he sort of regards the 41st president as a surrogate dad while Bush has become very fond of his one-time political nemesis.
