Bonneville County Boosting Seat Belt Patrols

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – The Bonneville County sheriff’s office has received a state transportation $20,000 grant to help crack down on inattentive drivers and those not wearing seat belts. Deputy Jeff Edwards says officers will be conducting extra patrols this week to encourage safer driving. He estimates that less than 70 percent of drivers and passengers are wearing seat belts at any given time. Not wearing a seat belt remains a secondary offense in Idaho, meaning that you can’t be pulled over for it if that’s the only problem officers see.
