Chinese Malls Creating Daycare for Bored Men

GETTY 12714 ChinaFlag?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1389088777508daboost/Thinkstock(BEIJING) — Chinese shopping centers are increasingly installing areas for women to drop off their significant others who are tired of tailing them while they shop.

According to the website Kotaku, the safe-zones — which translate to “husband cloakrooms” — have sprung up in various malls all over the country.  Some offer free WIFI or other amenities, others just appear to be places to sit, or sleep, proving that to its patrons, anything is better than tagging along with the better half.

At least one man could have used the respite: late last year, Tao Hsiao, 38, committed suicide by flinging himself from a mall elevator rather than continue to shop for shoes with his girlfriend.
