The mountains will officially take the new names for just one day — Super Bowl Sunday.

In a release, Hickenlooper found links between many of the mountains and their new Broncos counterparts. The state’s tallest peak, Mount Elbert, will be named after star quarterback Peyton Manning. Mount Massive will be named after 6-foot-3 inch, 335-pound defensive tackle Terrance Knighton.

Hickenlooper also found some more tenuous links between players and their respective mountains, naming Castle Peak after defensive back Duke Ihenacho, “because only a duke could vanquish a castle-like offense.” The towering Collegiate Peaks will each be named after one of the Broncos’ equally intimidating offensive linemen.

The Broncos will take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday. The Broncos’ last Super Bowl appearance — and their last win — was in 1998.
