Idaho Falls Man Arrested for Scamming Radio Company

(IDAHO FALLS, ID)  —  Idaho Falls police have arrested a man they believe scammed Riverbend Communications out of thousands of dollars.

Thirty-four-year old Ryan Thueson was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with grand theft, forgery and computer crimes.   The charges date back to last September when Riverbend Communications reported Thueson who was working at that time as a concert promoter under the company name 78-Productions.    About the same time, Thueson was reported missing.  East Idaho News reported on Thueson not reporting to work.  (Story)

Riverbend Communications had given Thueson $200,000 in escrow over a period of several months to secure top country music artists such as Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and others to come to East Idaho to perform.  Thueson claimed to be working with promoters for the artists, but allegedly made that up.  He provided false documentation from the non-existent promoters over a period of weeks to Riverbend Communications.   According to police, Thueson had forged bank documents to Riverbend Communications, and by the time it was discovered the bank did not have the money in an account, Thueson no longer had the money as well.

Riverbend Communications’ General Manager, Steve Poulsen issued an official statement Thursday:

Riverbend Communications has had business dealings with Ryan Thueson and 78 Productions for years, including recent efforts to bring a great concert to East Idaho.  We are very concerned with recent developments and we are cooperating fully with the Idaho Falls Police Department and the Bonneville County Prosecutor’s office in their investigation.  We believe the authorities will get to the truth and that justice will be served.  We have no further comment on the investigation or the pending criminal proceedings.

However, Riverbend Communications is committed to serving this community, and we look forward to bringing some great shows and entertainment to East Idaho in the future.

Riverbend Communications is the corporate name for Idaho Falls based radio stations:  KLCE97, KBEAR101, 1055theHawk, Z103 and Newstalk 97.7
