NBA via Minnesota Timberwolves(MINNEAPOLIS) — Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic will miss 7 to 10 days of basketball activities after an MRI revealed he has bursitis in his right ankle, the team announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-11, 285 pound Pekovic will be re-evaluated after the time off.

Pekovic left Monday’s game versus the Chicago Bulls and did not return. The 28-year-old, who received a five-year, $60 million contract this offseason, is averaging a career-high 18 points and 9.1 rebounds this season.

It has been speculated that Ronny Turiaf will take Pekovic’s spot in Minnesota’s starting lineup.
