(POCATELLO, ID) – Pocatello Police are cracking down on local retailers who may be selling electronic cigarettes to minors.  Authorities say there’s been an increase in the number of juveniles using vaping devices. Under a 2012 statute, Idaho prohibits the sale of electronic cigarettes to anyone under the age of 18 because they still contain nicotine. Several teens say they’ve been able to purchase them in area “vape shops” which have grown in number over the past two years. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not consider vaping a safe alternative to regular cigarettes.
