Stallings was three shots behind going into the final round, but made birdie on the par-5 18th hole at Torrey Pines for the victory.

“It’s pretty cool to win at such a great event,” Stallings said.  “The best field I’ve played in so far this year.”

The victory clinched a spot at the Masters in April and was Stallings third career PGA TOUR victory.

“There’s not many lists where your name is as close to Tiger Woods is ever a bad thing,” Stallings joked about Woods, who failed to make the second cut on Saturday.

Jason Day (68) and Graham DeLaet of Canada (68) each made birdie on the last hole to tie for second.

“This will be hard to swallow,” Woodland said. “I felt like I kind of gave one away today.”
