(SALMON, ID) – Heavy snows forced the Salmon School District to close early Wednesday. State officials say the roofs on the old schools aren’t strong enough to hold more than three inches of snow without compromising the safety of students and staff. Crews reportedly had a hard time keeping the roofs clear because of the blizzard. Salmon voters have rejected nine bonds to repair or replace existing buildings. State loans will help finance roof replacements throughout the district this summer.
