The Governor Vows to Fight Gay Marriage

(BOISE, ID) – Gov. Butch Otter has vowed to defend Idaho’s marriage laws in federal court.  Idaho voters overwhelmingly approved a Constitutional amendment in 2006 that defined marriage exclusively between one man and one woman. Four same-sex couples living in the Gem State are now challenging that law. Democrats are criticizing Otter’s plan to use taxpayer funds to defend state marriage laws, noting the “costly” efforts of recently-overturned legislation in Ohio and Utah, where same-sex marriage is now legal.
