McAllen police said the two were arrested on local charges of credit and debit card abuse. Daniel Dominguez Guardiola, 28, and Mary Carmen Vaquera Garcia, 27, are from the Monterrey, Mexico, area.

Local officials received word last week of fraudulent activity at Best Buy, Walmart and Toys R Us in the McAllen area, with most of the incidents involving electronic purchases. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Secret Servive helped police identify the suspects involved.

Guardiola and Gacia attempted to re-enter the U.S. on Sunday and were detained with more than 90 fraudulent credit cards with them. Police found more than a dozen other cards elsewhere.

Officials are investigating how and where the two obtained the credit card information.
