Most economists had expected to see around 200,000 jobs added last month.

The unemployment rate, meanwhile, fell from 7 percent to 6.7 percent. While that’s the lowest rate since October 2008, the drop likely had to do with a decrease in the labor force participation rate, which now stands at 62.8 percent.

The Labor Department on Friday also revised its number for November to show that 38,000 more jobs were added that month.
