The 26-year-old actor addressed the matter Tuesday at a press conference in New York for his new comedy, That Awkward Moment.  According to People magazine, he said, “I’m so happy. I feel like I’m in a great place and I’m glad that I’m really here to share this moment with everybody and be present for all of it.”

Referring to 2013 as “an interesting year,” Efron added, “The best part of it was being able to reflect upon that experience and realize how much I have learned about myself and the kind of man I want to be.”

Efron made similar comments earlier in the day on NBC’s Today show, when he remarked, “I’ve never been this happy before.”

That Awkward Moment, co-starring Fruitvale Station actor Michael B. Jordan and Divergent actor Miles Teller, opens Jan. 31.
