However, efforts to deliver aid turned dangerous when a United Nation-led convoy came under mortar and firearms attack on Saturday.

According to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, nine vehicles were trapped for several hours before they could finally leave the city.

One driver was injured during the attack while two of the vehicles had to be left behind.

Despite the danger, the convoy managed to deliver hundreds of food parcels and medical kits to 2,500 people in two neighborhoods of Homs.
