Canada Stuns United States, 3-2 in Overtime to Win Gold

GETTY 13014 SochiFlags?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1392922754310Richard Heathcote/Getty Images(SOCHI, Russia) — Canada rallied from two goals back to beat the United States 3-2 in overtime on Thursday to win their fourth straight gold medal.  

Meghan Duggan got the scoring started 11:57 into the second period with the assist by Jocelyne Lamoureux.

Alex Carpenter scored fourth goal of the Olympics 2:01 into the third period on the power play to give the United States a commanding 2-0 lead.

Brianne Jenner scored for Canada 16:34 into the third to pull things within one and Marie-Philip Poulin scored to even things up with under a minute remaining with the extra attacker.

Poulin would score again 8:10 into overtime on the power play to beat the United States.

The last time the women’s team took home gold was back in 1998.
