Church Vandalism Declared “Hate Crime”

(CHUBBUCK, ID) – The FBI is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding vandalism at three churches in Chubbuck last November. Investigators are now calling the vandalism a hate crime. On the night of Nov. 6 or early Nov. 7, someone spray painted angry messages on the walls of three LDS meetinghouses. Officials say that because the messages specifically targeted a religious group through an act of vandalism, they are prosecutable as a hate crime under federal law.
