At least four were killed when a bomb exploded on a tourist bus near the border between Egypt and Israel in the Sinai peninsula.

The bomb was aboard the bus which was dropping off tourists at the Hilton Hotel in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Taba. The bomb exploded, killing four people and injuring more than one dozen.

The Egyptian authorities say 32 passengers were on the bus, all believed to be South Korean. Three passengers, plus their Egyptian driver, were reportedly killed.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Egypt and in Israel, but most of the injuries were said to be minor.

The tourists were reportedly part of a church group and had been visiting St. Catherine’s monastery in the Sinai peninsula, a popular tourist destination.

Insurgent attacks have been on the rise since the military ousted President Mohammed Morsi last July, but until now the targets have been almost entirely government-related.
