Egypt’s Interim Cabinet Resigns
Published at(CAIRO) — In a surprising move, Egypt’s entire interim cabinet has decided to resign. The shakeup was announced Monday by interim Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi.
During the press conference, el-Beblawi said the cabinet submitted its resignation to interim President Adly Mansour. According to cabinet spokesman Sherif Shawki, Mansour will be accepting the resignations shortly.
Ibrahim Mahlab, the current minister of housing, is expected to be named the new prime minister.
The cabinet reshuffle essentially paves the way for Gen. Abdel Fattah el Sisi to announce his candidacy for president. The military strong man currently holds the title of defense minister.
