Fire Destroys Hamer Home

(HAMER, ID) – A fire completely destroyed a home in Hamer Wednesday. The Jefferson County sheriff’s office says the fire started in a mobile home about a half-mile east of the Hamer townsite. Forty-seven-year-old Pedro Puente was trying to thaw out frozen water pipes with space heaters, which caused an electrical overload. In addition to burning the home, the fire also destroyed Puente’s minivan parked outside. No injuries were reported.
