(FIRTH, ID) – Firth High School’s girls basketball team won their first 2A state title in 27 years over the weekend. The team beat their district rival Ririe 45-36 on Saturday. The Cougars and Bulldogs squared off a total of five times this season, with Firth winning three bouts and Ririe winning the first two matchups. Firth head coach Sharla Cook called it a perfect pairing of two evenly-matched teams. Teams from District 6 have won seven state championships in the past nine years.
