Forty one percent of Americans polled in Gallup’s World Affairs survey (Feb 6-9) believe Obama is respected by leaders of other countries, versus 53 percent who do not.  That’s almost a reversal of the results from the 2013 poll, which found 51 percent believed Obama had respect of world leaders and 43 percent believed he did not.

Gallup notes that this year’s low numbers may have been influenced by specific international issues over the past year like the NSA spying revelations, Syria, increased tensions with Russia and an “uneasy relationship” between Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

In 2009, 67 percent of Americans believed Obama was respected worldwide and 20 percent believed he was not.
