Seven-year-old Megan Winters was playing with her sister in her grandmother’s backyard in Carroll County when she went to sit on the ledge of a well.

“I went to go stand up. My hands slipped and I fell,” Winters said.

The 7-year-old plunged 50 feet down. She tried to break her fall, but landed upside down and became trapped inside the narrow well.

Winters was in the well for more than an hour until firefighters rescued her.

According to ABC’s Reena Ninan, Winters broke her legs, an arm, her hip, and bones in her face. Winters’ mother said she spent nearly a month in the hospital.
