Indians Re-Sign Michael Brantley
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Cleveland Indians have reportedly reached a deal with outfielder Michael Brantley a source tells ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick. The deal is said to be worth $25 million over four years with a club option for a fifth, expected to pay an extra $11 million.
Brantley was a key member of the Indians turnaround season in 2013. The outfielder boasted a .284 batting average, slugging 10 homeruns and driving in 73 runs. During his fifth season with the club, Brantley helped take Cleveland to a 92-70 record following a 94-loss season in 2012.
The 26-year old set career marks for homers, RBI’s, stolen bases (17), games played (151) and at-bats (556) in 2013. Cleveland lost the AL wild-card game to Tampa Bay in their return to the postseason.
