Angela Weiss/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The 2014 Winter Olympic Games kicked off on Friday in Sochi with the opening ceremonies. ABC’s Dancing With the Stars champion and 1992 gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi said the U.S. has a good chance of bringing gold medals home.

“U.S. figure skating has a really strong team,” Yamaguchi told ABC Sports Radio of the men’s team on Friday.  “Their biggest rivals are the current Olympic champions from Canada.”

“Like Vancouver, it’s going to be another showdown between those two teams,” she added.

Aside from winning her gold medal in ’92, Yamaguchi said the opening ceremony was “one of my fondest moments.”

“That was certainly a proud moment and a moment I definitely felt honored,” she continued.
