Cooper Neill/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Lamar University fired head basketball coach Pat Knight on Sunday.

Knight, who was in his third season with the team, had guided the Cardinals to a 3-22 record this season.

Tic Price, the schools athletic coordinator, will take over as coach for the rest of the season.

Knight, the son of the legendary coach Bob Knight, had a good start to his career at Lamar. In his first season he led the Cardinals to a 23-12 record and a berth in the NCAA tournament. Things went south after that as Lamar finished the 2012-13 season 3-28.
Overall Knight finishes his career at Lamar with a 29-62 record.
