(REXBURG, ID) – Madison County Commissioners could ban public comments at future meetings. Commissioners have recently come under scrutiny for alleged violations of open meeting laws. Authorities say they’ve often opened up a forum for the public that isn’t available in other counties, leaving meetings potentially vulnerable to tangential discussions that aren’t part of the agenda. They say the public plays a vital role in the county’s decisions, and as long as it’s not abused, they’ll continue to allow citizens to comment in meetings.
