Meet El Chapo’s Beauty Queen Wife

File photo. Fuse/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — Beautiful women and wealthy gangsters seem to go hand-in-hand, so it might not come as a surprise that Emma Coronel, the wife of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, is a former beauty queen.
The now-arrested alleged drug lord married Coronel, who is believed to be in her 20s, after he saw her in a beauty pageant, according to reports.
Coronel, a dual U.S.-Mexican citizen, made headlines in 2011 when she traveled to California to give birth to twin daughters, according to the Los Angeles Times. She then reportedly returned with her daughters to Mexico.
The beauty queen was alongside her husband when authorities caught up with them in Mazatlan this weekend.
