GETTY 22114 Ambulance? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1392975442738katifcam/Thinkstock(MIAMI) — Traffic came to a jarring halt on a busy Miami highway around 2:30 p.m. Thursday when a woman suddenly jumped out of her car and began screaming for help for a 5-month-old boy who had turned blue.

The Miami Herald reports Pamela Rauseo dropped to the pavement after exiting her vehicle and began performing CPR on the unconscious little boy, her nephew. She was quickly joined by a number of Good Samaritans who happened to be stuck in the traffic caused by the baby’s health emergency.

One woman left her 3-year-old son in her car and helped Rauseo perform CPR while a Miami Herald photographer jumped out of his car and began running through traffic lanes to summon more assistance. A police officer began performing chest pumps on the baby while Rauseo breathed into her nephew’s mouth. The baby began breathing and crying, then suddenly stopped breathing again.

Members of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on the scene moments later and rushed the little tyke to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday night. Rauseo told one of the Good Samaritans that her nephew was born prematurely and had respiratory issues.
