Mosque Gets City Approval

(POCATELLO, ID) – The Pocatello Planning and Development Department has approved a zoning permit for a new Islamic center. The city’s only mosque currently occupies a crowded, two-bedroom apartment near Albertson’s. However, the Islamic Society of Southeastern Idaho wants to remodel an old Mexican restaurant along Fifth Avenue south of the Idaho  State University campus to relocate. Residents living within 300 feet of the proposed site have ten days to appeal. An estimated 1,400 Muslims  now live in the Pocatello area, including more than 800 students at ISU
