Ten Killed, More than 100 Injured in South Korean Roof Collapse
Published at(GYEONGJU, South Korea) — South Korean President Park Geun-Hye called for a full investigation after the roof of an auditorium collapsed near the city of Gyeongju on Monday night, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 100 others.
Officials believe that the heavy snow caused the roof of an auditorium at the Mauna Ocean mountain resort to collapse. The BBC News reports that a number of students had gathered in the auditorium for part of an orientation event for first-year students at the Busan University of Foreign Studies.
President Park urged for a “thorough investigation” after the fatal accident, says the BBC News.
Gyeongju is a historic city in the southeastern part of South Korea, and is a popular tourist destination.
