The captain of United Flight 1676 declared a medical emergency after reported injuries during the plane’s descent into Billings, Mont., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Boeing 737-700, which departed from Denver, Colo., around 12 p.m., landed in Billings without incident. There were 144 passengers and five crew members onboard.

One passenger told ABC News the plane dropped without warning. Bill Dahlin said he was sleeping when the aircraft started shaking and dipped suddenly.

“There was a gal in front of us, she went up, her head went through the roof, and there was a woman screaming for her baby,” Dahlin said. “What really kind of grabbed your heart was the woman hollering for her baby. She was terrified.”

In a statement, United Airlines said the flight safety team will review the incident and the company’s primary focus is assisting the employees and passengers who were injured.
