Why the gunman walked into the Benjamin Moore Paint Distribution center and opened fire Monday morning is unknown.  Police say the man, who was in his 60s, is one of the two dead, but would not say if the deceased were employees or give any additional information about their identities until the families have been notified.

There was a brief lockdown of an elementary school nearby, but that has since been lifted.

“When there’s police activity near a school, it’s very common practice to lock down the school for the students and faculty’s safety,” Vancouver Police spokesperson Kim Kapp said Monday.

Kapp added there are no “outstanding suspects,” and there is “no threat to the public” at this time.
