US State Department Expels Three Venezuelan Diplomats
Published at(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. State Department expelled three Venezuelan diplomats on Tuesday after Venezuela did the same to a trio of American diplomats in Caracas last week.
The American consular officials were thrown out of Venezuela last week after they were accused of meeting with students who had been involved in violent marches.
U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki called the Venezuelan diplomats “persona non-gratae,” confirming that their expulsion was in response to the Americans being expelled from Venezuela.
The State Department gave the Venezuelans 48 hours to leave the country.
