White House Gives Shout Out to USA Hockey After Win Over Russia
Published at(SOCHI, Russia) — It was a battle royale for men’s hockey at the Balshoy Ice Dome in Russia’s Olympic Park Saturday.
After a scoreless first period, Team USA Olympic Hockey took down Russia on its home ice in front of President Vladimir Putin in a thrilling 8-round shootout.
T.J. Oshie of the St. Louis Blues scored the winning goal, giving the USA a 3-2 win over Russia.
It was only the preliminary round play, but this victory on Russia’s home turf is a meaningful one. Even the White House gave the hockey team a shout out with the tweet: “Congrats to T.J. Oshie and the U.S. men’s hockey team on a huge win! Never stop believing in miracles. #GoTeamUSA -bo”
