Wolf Baiting Could be Allowed
Published at(BOISE, ID) – The Idaho Department of Fish and Game may allow wolf hunters in the Panhandle region to use bait. It’s all part of a wolf management plan aimed at significantly reducing the number of wolves in the state, which they believe will help boost the population of elk herds in northern and central Idaho. Baiting is illegal for most of Idaho’s wildlife, primarily because some see it as giving an unfair advantage to hunters. Officials say baiting will likely make wolf hunts more successful, especially in areas with rugged terrain and limited accessibility.
