Dog-Shooting Cop Remains on Payroll

(FILER, ID) – A southern Idaho cop involved in a controversial dog shooting incident will remain on the payroll. Filer police officer Tarek Hassani responded to a report of dogs running loose in a neighborhood Feb. 8. Dash-cam footage of the incident shows two dogs circling and barking at Hassani, one of which he shot after it lunged at hime. The online video sparked outrage among some Filer residents who allege that Hassani went too far. Filer Mayor Rick Dunn says Hassani will keep his job and receive additional training.
