The Mavericks (38-26) played tough all night long and sent the Eastern Conferences’ best team to its season-long fourth straight loss.

“In these two games, we’ve run the gamut of virtually everything,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said after his team defeated the Portland Trail Blazers and Pacers this weekend. “The early big lead, losing the entire lead, getting down and fighting back. And tonight, this is a top-two team in the league. We did it by keeping a real even, strong disposition.”

Paul George led the Pacers (46-17) with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Indiana was able to maintain a game and a half lead over the Miami Heat for the top spot in the conference thanks to the Chicago Bulls.  The Bulls defeated the champs in overtime on Sunday.

“Stay the course,” Indiana coach Frank Vogel said when asked how his team will rebound. “It’s a tough stretch of the schedule. We knew it was going to be tough. You’re going to have to play at your best to win at Dallas, at Houston.”
