Philadelphia Snaps 26-Game Losing Streak

Scott Halleran/Getty Images(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) — It took two months but Philadelphia found a way to end up on the winning side of things, and they did so in dominant fashion. The 76ers routed Detroit 123-98 to snap a 26-game losing streak which was tied for the longest in NBA history.
“We were just happy to get a win,” forward Thaddeus Young said. “I don’t think it was for the streak or anything like that, we just wanted to go out there and win a basketball game.”
Young scored 21 points in the game, which Philadelphia (16-57) once led by 32 in the third quarter. The 76ers last win came on Jan. 29 against Boston before the streak began. Michael Carter-Williams also had 21 points as Philadelphia snapped an 18-game home losing streak, also one shy of the all-time mark.
“There was some emotion,” said Carter-Williams after the game. “Of course we were happy to win again, it’s a great thing to be on the winning side.”
Greg Monroe had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons (26-47) who lost their 11th game in their last 13.
Even when trying not to make history, the 76ers still found their way into the record books. The 25 point margin of victory is the largest ever for a team snapping a losing streak of 20 or more games, there have been 11 such streaks in league history.
