Pro-Russian Forces Storm Naval Base in Crimea
Published at(SIMFEROPOL, Crimea) — Tensions are boiling over in Crimea the day after Russia signed a treaty to annex the region.
Pro-Russian forces on Wednesday stormed a base in Sevastopol that houses the headquarters of Ukraine’s navy in Crimea. They tore down the Ukrainian flags and replaced them with Russian ones.
No shots were reportedly fired, but the Ukrainian troops have refused to leave the headquarters.
The commander of Russia’s Black Sea fleet is expected to come in for negotiations.
