Steven Bowditch Earns First PGA Tour Victory
Published at(SAN ANTONIO) — Australian Steven Bowditch shot a 4-over 76 to win the Texas Open at TPC San Antonio Sunday.
The 30-year-old Bowditch bogeyed the 18th hole allowing him to hold on for a one-stroke victory over Will MacKenzie and Daniel Summerhays.
“Every time I got out of check, looking ahead to the Masters and winning golf events and making my speeches before I was finished, I had to pull myself in check every time,” Bowditch said. “And it happened a lot today.”
Bowditch’s final round 76 is the highest for a winner since Vijay Singh shot a 4-over 76 in the 2004 PGA Championship.
Before Sunday, Bowditch had only two top-10 finishes in eight years on the PGA Tour.
