Brewers Stifle Pirates, 4-1, Win 9th Straight
Published at(MILWAUKEE) — The Milwaukee Brewers are off to their best start since the 1987 season after a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
Aramis Ramirez drove in two in the victory and Ryan Braun was 1-for-4 with a run scored to give the Brewers their ninth straight victory and a 10-2 record.
In 1987, Milwaukee started the season 13-0 and the Brewers won nine straight last April.
Kyle Lohse fell one out of pitching a complete game and gave up four hits and struck out nine in 8.2 innings.
Will Smith recorded the struck out Pedro Alvarez on three pitches for his first career save after Lohse (2-1) allowed a single to Andrew McCutchen.
Charlie Morton (0-1) pitched seven innings and gave up six hits and two runs for the loss.
