Carter’s Buzzer-Beater Lifts Mavericks to Victory
Published at(DALLAS) — Half-man, half-amazing. Vince Carter hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer as time expired to give the Dallas Mavericks a 109-108 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series.
Spurs guard Manu Ginobili hit a layup seconds earlier which gave his team a 108-106 lead. The Mavericks then called timeout to set up the play for Carter.
“I don’t mind taking the game-winning shot,” said Carter, who finished with 11 points. “I don’t mind missing them, and dealing with it. So I think having that mentality helps me.”
Monta Ellis scored 29 points for the eighth-seeded Mavericks, who took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. They also kept the home-court advantage they earned by winning Game 2 in San Antonio.
Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 22 points in the loss.
Game 4 will be played on Monday night in Dallas.
