Darvish Sharp in Rangers Victory over Rays
Published at(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) — Yu Darvish had no trouble getting back on track after missing three weeks.
Darvish pitched seven innings of scoreless ball allowing seven hits, one walk and striking out six to lead the Texas Rangers to a 3-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday.
“He was in control of the game,” Rangers skipper Ron Washington said of Darvish. “He was using his pitches. He was throwing strikes. And that’s what he does.”
Before that, Alex Cobb was impressive for the Rays. He pitched seven scoreless innings allowing three hits, one walk and striking out six in the loss.
“He didn’t give up any pitches,” Andrus said of Cobb. “I thought he was painting the whole game. I’m really glad that we had Yu out there. He was doing the same thing for us.”
Joakim Soria pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.
