Evacuation Order in Jackson Lifted

(JACKSON, ID) – An evacuation order for the area around the Jackson landslide has been lifted. The slumping hillside near Budge Drive is only moving about one-tenth of an inch per day and is no longer considered a threat. Officials say more than 16 million pounds of fill material were dumped at the base of the hill, an experimental maneuver that may help buttress other landslides in the future. The Walgreens apartment complex will remain closed until utility issues are resolved.
